XRW Reconnect

Throughout July and August we will be focusing on much needed regeneration and reconnection within the wider XRW community.  We have planned a number of free events that we'd love you to be part of, whether you're a new, active, or resting rebel we'd love you to come along.  A big thank you to everyone that's helped put this together.

XRW Sound Walk - Thu 8 Jul 2021, 19:30 - Abbey Gardens

Inspired by Pauline Oliveros' Deep Listening and Sonic Meditation practices, as well as the idea of "acoustic ecology". A short walk around town and St Giles hill accompanied by simple exercises intended to focus awareness on sound and reflect on the role it has in our relationship with the environment. XRW Social Cycle Ride - Sun Jul 18 2021, 10:30 - King Alf Statue

XRW Biodiversity Walk - Tue 20 Jul 2021, 19:00 - Winnal Moors`A great opportunity to learn about local biodiversity and the restoration and evolution of the Winnall Moors nature reserve and the work of the wildlife trust and volunteers. Home to wildflower-rich meadow, pasture and woodland, with a beautiful, clear chalk stream running through its heart, the reserve has seen species such as water vole, otter, kingfisher and Cetti’s warbler flourish.  Ella Moseley will be leading the evening and is the Associate Director of Ecology at LUC; Ella is an experienced ecologist with a specialism in biodiversity net gain.  Please register to attend here:  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/xrw-biodiversity-walk-tickets-161696060269

XRW Meditation, Yoga and Reconnecting - Tue Aug 3 2021, 19:30 - Abbey Gardens

In the beauitiul surroundings of Abbey Gardens, Katherine Howlett will lead us in a breathing meditation and accessible yoga session to develop fluid, creative mindsets. Jo Saunders will then lead a session aimed at developing, renewing and deepening our connections within XR. An opportunity for people to learn skills of appreciation and listening, furthering and forming relationships that will serve to furnish support during the activities of XR. NEW DATE:  Wild Swim and Picnic - Sun Aug 29 2021, Noon - River Itchen (TBC)

A refreshing swoosh in the beautiful River Itchen, followed by a river-side picnic.
